Producer Prerna Arora is celebrating the success of Maa Into Bangaaram.
“It’s not just any success. It’s very special for we, women producers, battling sexism and misogyny in this movie industry,” says Prerna who has in the past produced successful films like PadMan, Rustom, Pari, Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Jatadhara in Telugu .
Prerna says it is tough for men to take orders from women. “Whether it is the hero or the director, it is very difficult for them to take a female producer seriously, unless it is a truly secure star like Akshay Kumar. Otherwise a female producer or director has a very difficult time being taken seriously during shooting.”
Prerna feels Samantha succeeded where other big names in Telugu cinema have failed. “It’s a huge triumph. And she could do it as she was working with a female director. And let’s not forget, she has a strong support system in her soulmate Raj Nidimoru. We all need some winds beneath our wings, man or woman.”
