The IIFA weekend kicked off with IIFA Rocks aka IIFA Music and Fashion Extravaganza. This event is usually held before the main awards event and is also the night where technical achievements in cinema are honoured. Given that fashion is on the agenda for this event its always interesting to see what’s on the green carpet.
Parineeti Chopra played it quite safe with a Gaurav Gupta gown for the evening. Given that she was also a host of the event it was probably wise to go for something striking yet simple. She complimented the look with a very simple yet elegant hair do and Suhanie Pitti cuffs. She looked great!
Kriti Sanon was spotted in Bibhu Mohaptra gown. I do find the color of the gown quite lucklustre but Kriti pulled it off well. Loved the sleek hair do which she opted for.
Sonakshi’s style has most certainly evolved over time. She takes risks and is unpredictable which is always a treat. For IIFA Rocks she went with an Anamika Khanna look. You cannot deny that there is too much happening with this look given the classic Anamika jacket, belt and the Amrapali necklace so perhaps I would have preferred if she had let go of the necklace. Nevertheless she pulls off the look quite well and brings to it her own unique spunk.
Sabysachi’s Big Love collection has already seen a lot of love from B-Town so its no surprise that it makes an appearance on the IIFA Green Carpet. Bipasha has already spotted one of the looks for a previous store-opening event so this would be her second outing in a Sabya Big Love piece. Safe to say she looked exquisite! Should she have saved this for the main awards night…well that’s debatable.
Once upon a time Dia had a 100% success rate on the fashion scene but lately something seems to be amiss. This event sadly was no exception. The Rocky S simply does not work for the actress-turned-producer nor did those shoes.
Lisa Haydon went with an obvious choice, Deme by Gabriella, which is a label that the actress endorses both on a professional and personal level. Of course if you know the collection well you also know it takes someone like Lisa to pull those pieces off so its no surprise we see her time and time again in a Deme piece. This look was no exception, she looked effortlessly sexy!
We had a second less-busier Anamika Khanna sighting on the night on Neha Dhupia. It was great to see someone not doing the usual cape or jacket look from the designer’s collection. The addition of the cuff and the dark eye made this look very striking!
It was a Shivan and Naresh sari for Huma on the night. She rocks the sleek hair and smokey eyes look. Only issue I have is with the blouse though given that is probably a sari gown, that is probably not even the blouse. Regardless, Huma looked stunning!
Shraddha broke the monotony on the green carpet of floor length attires and went with a knee length dress by Georges Chakra. Its always tricky when someone opts for knee length on the red (or green in this case) carpet because many a times the choice becomes too informal. Of course that didn’t happen here as Shraddha looks supremely elegant and chic in her choice. Loved the dress and its one she wears really well!
Jacqui has always had one of the most endearing attitudes on the red carpet. She sports the sexiest of outfits and then forgets all about it which is why they mostly work. This event was no exception with Jacqui in a Monisha Jaising gown. Loved that she left everything quite simple given the grandeur of the gown itself. The pink lips were a great addition.
Aditi Rao Hydari
So when I first set eyes on Sabya’s Big Love collection I couldn’t wait to see them off the ramp. Now however, I think they’ve been done to death. Not only have we seen multiple outgoings of pieces from the collection, those who have endorsed the collection haven’t really taken any risks with it i.e. wearing it just as it was presented. Putting aside the fact that Aditi’s look is just one of the many Sabya Big Love look which we’ve seen over and over again, lets not take away from the actress that she did look quite lovely in her Big Love look! But of course here’s a shout-out to all those stylists making the outfit decisions, lets get creative with Sabya’s 2015 collection or lets move on!
Malaika Arora Khan
We had a second Georges Chakra sighting on the night. This time it was full length gown on Malaika. I note that had this gown been presented to me on a mannequin I may not have taken to it but of course Malaika works it wonderfully!
Pulling off one of the hardest looks to pull, an all purple gown, on the night was Genelia Deshmukh! She was a vision in the Jatin Verma hi-low gown! Given the gown was so striking it was wise choice to have minimal accessories with this one and letting the gown and the striking eye make up do all the wooing.
