Finally, we disagree slightly on ‘Milo Wahan Wahan’…
‘Milo Wahan Wahan’ is a track that I had to listen to a couple of times to make up my mind about, but then I focused more on the music and became more excited about it. This track too has sad under and overtones, and is sung outstandingly by Alka Yagnik, Jayachandran, and a backup chorus. But the star of this track is Rahman’s expertise at orchestration. The music has a full orchestra with some sensational violin sections, and entwined with the singers’ voices – it is amazing.
In some ways, I have to disagree slightly with you on this one. I do agree that it was musically great, but I think the vocals are too overpowering. I think Shreya Ghoshal would have been a better choice for this because Alka’s voice seems to take over the entire song when she sings the word “Wahan”. That word just kept grinding against my ears and I don’t think I really felt the mood Rahman was trying to convey. But I have to say; the culmination is very well done.
