Despite all the hype and publicity Shilpa has received in the international circle recently, it seems she still has a ways to go within her own industry. The IIFA-hosted birthday bash in her honor made the sound of a big, wet fish – flop. In fact, she herself left the party within 10 minutes. Most people who were in the mood to party landed up at Salman’s impromptu bash, completely overshadowing the celebration that Shilpa can only have once-a-year.
The invite for this was given along with the invitations for the awards and the cricket and match. Yet, few industry faces even bothered to show up – Lara Dutta popped in for a few minutes before going to Salman’s, Metro director Anurag Basu showed his face. People like producer Vashu Bhagnani did not even have the courtesy to enter the party properly and just walked off from the gate.
Hotel Queens, in contrast, could be found bouncing with life. Salman Khan hosted Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Chunky Pandey, Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, and of course Katrina Kaif in his all-exclusive party. Sometimes, you wonder where people lose their decency – this was such an underhanded blow to Shilpa, for they could have partied with the same people had they bothered to go to the official IIFA-hosted event.
As for the others? You know, Akshaye Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Geeta Basra, Ritesh Deshmukh, Firoz Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Manmohan Shetty, Ramesh Sippy, Randhir Kapoor, Dia Mirza…well, they all decided to skip as well. Next time, maybe Shilpa should trying celebrating with BollySpice – we wouldn’t skip it for the world!
