4. Ishqiya
No one ever expected Arshad Warsi to stand up so well to Naseeruddin Shah. But he did and how. Irrespective of the box office turnovers, Ishqiya was a film that really exploded on screen with fabulous performances by the gentlemen and of course, Vidya Balan. Her enactment of a greedy village belle charmed audiences in a story that was one of deceit and betrayal. Set in a more rustic scenario, the film really worked with audiences because it was different and allowed the actors to take on roles that are unexpected of them. Matched with some amazing music, Ishqiya won critical acclaim for its innate storyline and performances par excellence.
