1. Raajneeti
The top award for the most critically acclaimed film of the year has to be bestowed to Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti. Forget the phenomenal ensemble cast that didn’t fail to explode and deliver on screen; forget even that Raajneeti is a modern take on the epic Mahabharat, take a look at the execution and story line. The film, complicated as it is, still managed to keep you engaged and gob smacked because of its gripping plot. Jha used politics and a prominent family as a backdrop before he managed to extract some of the most outstanding performances from the entire cast irrespective of their time on screen. The film is worth every piece of praise; Hindi cinema at its best.
