‘Hai Dard’ surprised both of us with its haunting tone and Udit Naryan doing the honours…
This sound takes a turn from some of the earlier romantic tracks and it feels really dark and foreboding, a theme I’m not used to hearing Udit Naryan’s voice associated with.
Indeed, Aly, when I read it was Udit Naryan I was really surprised just because I would not associate his name to a sad song. The song just drips despair and Rahman again proves how skillful he is, because you can feel it not only in Udit’s magnificent voice but in the music as well. If you did not know Hindi and could not understand the lyrics, you would still know this song is not a happy one.
